New iii Videos!!!
The good people at The Denver Folklore Center (check them out here: https://www.denverfolklore.com/) did a couple videos on my work recently. The first is a quick-hitter for iii #63 which is currently there on consignment.
The second video is a longer mini-documentary about me and my building. Specifically from 6:07 - 9:55 you can see me describe the measuring project and some of its outcomes so far.
The Denver Folklore Center also featured me in their newsletter this week, copied below:
“iii Mandolins, now @ DFC!
We’re proud to add Colorado builder iii Mandolins (Geoff Burghardt) to our lineup of incredible mandolins! Geoff builds right down the road from us, out of his amazing home shop where he also does fantastic repair work. His attention to detail is second to none, having taken the information from hundreds of mandolins that he has extensively tested for tone production, sound, and construction, and funneled that into his already outstanding instruments to create some of the best new luthier-built mandolins made today.
In his own words, “I am a sole proprietor luthier shop located in Denver, CO. I have been building stringed instruments since 2003 and setup/repair services since 2016. Most of that time I have been building custom stringed and fretted instruments, centered on the mandolin and mandolin family. I use high quality materials and hardware, sometimes even sourced locally by myself! I use a mixture of modern and traditional techniques aimed at producing the most responsive, balanced and soulful instruments I can. Every instrument I make is one I would keep for myself.”
We couldn’t be happier to have Geoff’s fantastic instruments on board with us. Stay tuned for more news on iii! If you want to hear a iii mandolin played, check out Neil’s newest video here.”
